Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin inspected the readiness of city facilities to
receive participants of the upcoming BRICS Games and the BRICS Summit – hotels,
construction sites and landscaping of the Bulak Bayou.
Earlier, an operational committee was established in the capital of
Tatarstan to prepare for events under the auspices of BRICS, it is personally
headed by Ilsur Metshin. Such inspections are conducted regularly on the eve of
large-scale international events.
The first site of the inspection was the Kristall Hotel at 8 Rustem
Yakhin Street. At the facility, employees are preparing an additional five
suites and one presidential room for the summit, which required combining three
standard rooms. The presidential suite will have a kitchen with a table for
10-12 people, a bathroom, a guest room, an office and a bedroom.
In addition, Kristall is undergoing maintenance works in 96 rooms. The
work at the hotel is scheduled to be completed by April 30.
“Today, 20 hotels are being renovated for the BRICS Games and the BRICS
Summit, at which we expect more than 25 delegations with heads of state. We
appreciate that the hoteliers have agreed to make presidential suits. They say
they are glad to operate at such international events that are needed to start
the renovation. But after that, they also expect a different number of guests,
and pricing, and revenue,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
The Ramada Hotel will accommodate guests at the BRICS Games. Four rooms will
be renovated for the international event, of which the builders redesign one
presidential room with an area of about 156 sq. m.
“We want to thanks all the hoteliers. We started preparing for the
Universiade with them, the FINA Championships, FIFA World Cup, World Skills,
and Games of the Future were held. The new challenge is BRICS. We hope that
everything will be held at the highest level,”- the Mayor noted.
Fifty-one accommodation facilities will be prepared for the participants
of the BRICS Summit. Among them are 46 hotels of the 5, 4, 3 and 2 star
categories, as well as various accommodation facilities such as the Universiade
Village, hostels, etc. To date, about 6,500 rooms have been booked.
Guests and participants of the upcoming BRICS Games are planned to be
accommodated in 10 hotels in Kazan. Rooms will be prepared for the judges at
the Korston Club Hotel, the Grand Hotel, the IT Park and the Regatta Hotel.
Media representatives will be accommodated in the Ibis, Regina, Nogai, Kosmos
and Davydov hotels.
“By the BRICS Summit, we will overhaul Bulak, where 56 floating
fountains and thousands of new lamps will be installed, - the Mayor noted. - We continue to improve. We move on, hoteliers
as well, and as a result, everyone gets a clean, well-maintained and renovated
Kazan by the BRICS.”
A residential complex with a total area of 12,163 square meters is being
built on Chernyshevsky Street. According to the plan, it provides an
underground parking lot and offices. The residential complex will consist of
three houses.
“International events cause inconvenience to residents, but the legacy
remains with us forever. The development of the hospitality industry is
inevitable, such as the hotel staff, cafes and taxis, landscaping is moving
forward, this applies to all sectors of life. There is a lot of work and
preparation ahead of these events, but after them, the city will be renovated
and landscaped with new opportunities for Kazan residents," - Ilsur Metshin
added.
