Guzel Sagitova, Deputy Head of the Kazan Executive Committee, reported
about the preparations for the celebration of the 79th anniversary
of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Kazan at the Business Monday meeting.
The city will host about 130 activities, including flower laying, concerts and
fireworks.
“The theme of the Great Patriotic War shaped our worldview in our
generation. We absorbed this content, as they say now, and clearly understood
what is “good” and “bad”. Now, when there are many who want to shift the
emphasis, turn history around and turn black into white, and vice versa, it is
certainly very important to maximize the opportunities of patriotic education,
to convey the true story to our younger generation, to those who decide the
future, on whose shoulders our great Motherland will remain,”- commented the Mayor
of the city Ilsur Metshin.
The activities will start on April 25. On this day, commemorative events
will be held in the districts of Kazan at the monuments to the fallen during
the war. Schoolchildren, veterans and residents of neighborhoods will take part
in the events.
