I. Metshin about student years

Every year in early September thousands of yesterday's school pupils become students. And I'm glad that Kazan can rightly be considered the "capital of students". We have more than a dozen of federal universities, where more than 150,000 students educate. If before Kazan boys and girls dreamed to go to Moscow, St. Petersburg universities, today their goal is to enter the universities of Kazan!

I am glad that this vision is shared by their coevals from other cities in Russia and abroad. Once the share of non-resident students was only 4%, and today one in four students came from outside the city and the republic. That's what it means - the brand, the quality of education!

As mayor, I'm sure that for many children Kazan may become a second home. Anyway, we do everything for those students to like Kazan, like I did it some time. Today's first-year students are the future of our city! It is thanks to the active student movement our 1010-year-old city is still young, open to new ideas and initiatives!

I always emphasize that the student’s time is a special time in your life when you are open to all ways and means. At this time you know what true friendship is, you find your significant other, and finally - acquire a profession, determine by which way you will go. It is important in these 4-5 years time to realize the maximum of inclinations. As today the graduates of the Kazan have limitless possibilities, the world is open to them. Springboard called Kazan offers many new features and preferences. We need to know how to cherish every minute!
