In the Sovetsky district of Kazan, next to the Novye Gorki residential
complex on Rodina Street, a school for 1,224 students is being built. It is
planned to open by the Day of Knowledge, and all construction work will be
completed by August 1. Today, the focus of the educational institution has
already been determined – the ecological and technological studies.
The educational institution, which is being built under the Education
national project, will be equipped with a canteen for 612 seats, an expanded
gym and specialized classrooms for chemistry and biology. The Mayor of Kazan
Ilsur Metshin got acquainted with the progress of construction works today.
The location for the new school was not chosen by chance. In the
actively developing residential area more than 14 thousand people will live
soon. Therefore, the new educational institution will unload nearby schools.
There is already a kindergarten for 340 places nearby, another one (for 50 children)
is planned to be completed by the end of the year, and the construction of a
polyclinic is planned as well.
“We are leaders in construction of the social infrastructure facilities
in Russia: in 10 years – 177 social facilities, including 90 kindergartens and
25 schools. Not a single million-plus city builds more schools and
kindergartens than us, with the exception of Moscow and St. Petersburg. We have
gained a good pace and this year we will open three more schools by September
1,”- Ilsur Metshin reminded.
The school will be located in a building with an area of 25,400 square
meters. Classrooms, a canteen with 612 seats and an assembly hall will be
located there. The school staff is still being recruited, Gulnaz Galeeva was
appointed a school principal.
In-depth study of biology and chemistry (microbiology, organic,
inorganic and analytical chemistry), as well as industrial ecology and
biotechnology is planned at the educational institution. Graduates of the
school will be able to solve resource-saving ecological and technological tasks
aimed at improving the quality of life.
The school will focus on ecological and technological studies, the
design concept is related to the theme of nature. For example, it will be
possible to read the names of geographical objects of Tatarstan on the walls –
this way students will be able to better memorize information, trees, plants,
flowers, animals and fish. The furniture will be made of chipboard or porcelain
stoneware with imitation wood.
“The main concept of the school is the name “Homeland”. Accordingly,
when developing the design project, we used colors of nature. Tatarstan is a
republic with many rivers and the main it is reflected in the design of all classrooms,”-
shared architect of Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt Laysan Sosunova.
The canteen will be decorated in a general style. According to Rimma
Mukhametshina, Director of the Department of Food and Social Nutrition of
Kazan, the design will remind children of their homeland - the walls will be
decorated with a national tulip pattern.
Sports grounds for senior and junior students, running tracks, including
a jumping pit, and outdoor exercise equipment will be installed. Schoolchildren
will play football, basketball or volleyball.
