Sixty-four
kilometers of utilities will be repaired in Kazan. One of the updated sections
of the heat pipeline has been used for nearly 40 years and could not withstand
hydraulic tests. Kazenergo plans to complete the replacement by September 15.
The Mayor was informed about the progress of the work today.
According to the
head of Kazan, the city is actively preparing for the BRICS summit. The work
includes renovation of utilities, as well as underground. Underground utilities
are a challenging issue in the capital of Tatarstan, like in any other city,
and require financing to solve this problem.
“Work is ongoing
on more than 64 kilometers of networks, including 15 kilometers that will be
replaced by Kazenergo,”- the Mayor said. “Federal and republican programs are
needed to maintain the operation of the dilapidated networks, which account for
almost 60% of wear at Kazenergo and more than 70% at Vodokanal.” The Mayor
thanked the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov for his long-awaited program.
“We are waiting for the underground infrastructure of the city to meet the high
standards of the capital of Tatarstan,”- he said.
The repaired
section of the heat network stretches 460 meters from the boiler house along
Karbyshev Street, providing heat to the Interregional Clinical Diagnostic
Center and three residential buildings of the Avalon housing complex on
Tankovaya Street. The heat pipe has been in operation for 37 years, exceeding
the standard lifespan of 25 years. Due to this, the pipes are unable to
withstand hydraulic testing, and work began on August 12 and is scheduled for completion
next week. Ten people and five special vehicles are involved in this project.
During the repair, consumers are provided with hot water through a space
heating system.
The replacement of
utilities is carried out in one stage. In accordance with the schedule, a
heating main was excavated at the site, old pipes were dismantled and new ones
were laid with the best technical and economic indicators. The pipes are
insulated in several layers, the first one does not pass heat, and the second
one does not pass moisture. Welding of joints and fitting of pipes into
couplings is now being completed. The work has been completed by 55%.
By the upcoming
heating season in Kazan, nearly 6,000 apartments and 879 social facilities will
be desalinated. The work is nearing completion, and Kazenergo has also replaced
boiler units in four boiler houses. Work continues at another facility.
Heating grid
companies will replace and rebuild more than 30 kilometers of heating and hot
water supply networks. Over the past five years, a total of 233 kilometers of
networks have been replaced or repaired in the city.
