The first
reconstruction of the Central Stadium in 20 years is being completed in Kazan.
Next week, the renovated venue will host athletics competitions of the BRICS
Games with the participation of 226 athletes. For the international event, 400
m long tracks were laid at the stadium, the seats of the stands were replaced
with 15,000 spectators, the facade of the building and the galleries were
repaired. The football and athletics arena, which will become a training
ground, has already been renovated. After the BRICS Games, over 5,000 Kazan
athletes and trainees of sports schools will be able to train at the Central
Stadium. Before the start of the international competitions, the renovated sports
venue was inspected by the mayor of the city Ilsur Metshin.
In six
months, workers have completed waterproofing of the stands at the Central
Stadium and installed new seats for 15,000 spectators. The color scheme of the
seats was discussed jointly with the Kazan Development Institute. The two main
spectator screens of the stadium's sports core have been replaced with LED HD
monitors.
During the renovation,
new entrance doors were installed on the first floor and on the staircase
structures of the stands. New plumbing has been installed in the public
bathrooms. The concrete structures have been updated, the walls and beams in
the galleries have been reinforced. The roof and front of the building have
been repaired.
Now experts
are marking the athletics tracks with a length of 400 meters. The new coating
is made of environmentally friendly and wear-resistant rubber. The durable
material from the Chinese manufacturer is suitable for frequent use, and also
creates a cushioning effect, which reduces muscle fatigue and the risk of
microtrauma.
By the
decision of the Mayor of Kazan and the management of the sports venue, the
unused VIP boxes were converted into multifunctional training areas. After the
international competitions, more than 1,300 athletes of the Tsentralny sports
club will continue to practice at the stadium. The football and athletics arena
will be attended by almost 3,800 trainees of the Aviator, Trudovye Rezervy,
Tasma, Idel, Tsentralny, Strela and Savinovo sports schools.
To date,
the repair work at the arena has been fully completed: dismantling worn-out and
laying new tracks, repairing jump pits, marking and replacing doors. After the
BRICS Games, artificial filler, which was laid in 2020, will be replaced on the
football pitch.
After the
repair of the entrance groups, the landscaping of the Central Stadium was also
carried out. New asphalt pavement was laid in the parking lot in front of the
sports venue with an area of 23,200 square meters, sidewalks were laid on an
area of 11,800 square meters. Additional lamps were installed on seven outdoor
lighting poles, five 20-meter masts with six spotlights on each were mounted,
as well as nine 9-meter poles with lamps.
