Kazan has developed a catalog of requirements and recommendations for
the placement of verandas in the historical part of the city. It represents a
set of clear and transparent requirements for the size and color solutions of verandas,
accessibility to people with limited mobility, deviations from nearby
obstacles, and the use of living plants. It is also possible to place summer
cafes in the yards. The new rules were discussed at meetings with entrepreneurs
and were adopted in the catalog format.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, thanked the Institute of City
Development and the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning for their
joint activities. “Common requirements streamline the work, make it easier for
entrepreneurs to understand what the city would like to see. Of course, since
the rules are uniform and transparent, we hope that business representatives
will make a good design and comply with the requirements,”- the Mayor said.
Those who adhere to the catalog will be able to conclude a contract for
free placement of verandas for three years at once. In general, such a support
measure has been in effect for the fourth year. During this time, three times
more verandas appeared in Kazan.
