Ilsur Metshin: "Kazan will be able to host the Olympic Games after 2013"
Ilsur Metshin informed the distinguished guests about the bid of Kazan for the right to host the World Summer Universiade-2013 and victory of Tatarstan capital in this competition. “We are sure that organization of the Universiade-2013 in Kazan will advance the city to a new level in the sport world,” the mayor said. “After the Universiade Kazan must become the center of summer sports in Russia.”
According to Ilsur Metshin’s words, after the Games of 2013 infrastructure can be used for at least 20 years. There are plans on holding matches of Europe football championship. Mayor of Kazan indicate that Russian Minister of Sport, chief of Russian Football Union Viltaly Mutko confirmed that Kazan along with Moscow and Saint Petersburg will submit application for organization of Euro.
The mayor also said that technical characteristics of the facilities for the Universiade-2013 meet all requirements of high-level competitions. Construction projects are discussed with federations of these sports. After 2013 Kazan will be able to host the largest sport forum, even the Olympic Games, Ilsur Metshin.
Ilsur Metshin also said that Athens, Quebec and Hamburg will bid for the Universiade-2015.
Summing up his report, Ilsur Metshin invited Azerbaijan athletes to take part in the Universiade in Kazan and the delegation members to be honored guests of the event.
